Our History
With her love of the close harmonies of the “girl groups” of the 1930’s and beyond, Linda Wilson created Mixed CO, blending historic inspiration with her musical passion. As an accomplished pianist and vocalist, arranging music and creating a unique vocal sound has culminated in the music of Mixed CO you’ve been hearing for three decades.
In 1991 the trio started performing in San Luis Obispo County, with wineries, veterans’ groups and air shows bringing excited audiences. The late Peggy Peterson was instrumental in promoting Mixed Co’s music when she hosted the group in a house concert, sharing with many what she knew would be a hit! During the mid-1990’s, Mixed CO traveled around the state, performing at the Watsonville Airshow and Eagle Field Annual Dinner Dances, as well as for private events in Monterey, Riverside, and more.
The original trio included Kristie Dart of Paso Robles and Jenny Shaheen of Arroyo Grande. All three members came from a lifetime of music and musical theatre backgrounds, which helped create the performances Mixed CO maintains today. The group was privileged to also include the late Stephen Tosh as an accompanist. Over the years, both Kristie and Jenny’s life circumstances changed, and they were not able to continue with the group.

Mixed CO Now...
Donna Jones, middle voice, came aboard ten years ago and more recently, Terri Kahn stepped in on alto. This particular trio, also known as The Jingle Belles during the holiday season, has been singing together for many years in Christmas caroling groups, and has adapted easily to the new and original arrangements for Mixed CO.
The Mixed CO band rounds out the trio’s sound with top-notch instrumentalists. Dan Murry has been on keyboards for the group since 1996, along with Ed Harris on bass. Both are incredible musicians with decades of playing professional music in addition to professional careers in other fields. While Dan is retired from a long career in education, he continues to play for the group. Mixed CO is excited to bring Darrell Voss, well known as one of the best percussionists around, into our current performances.
